When people ask - "Should I have a Sports Massage or Relaxation massage?" -
Often, those seeking Sports Massage have a target muscle group, or more localised area of the body
to be addressed. Those seeking relaxation, tend to favour a full body approach.
The outcome would have a similar response - to downregulate the nervous system to allow the body to have an appropriate response to tension and tightness.

Sports Massage can help with muscle soreness after exercise (DOMS Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) and speed up the recovery process.
After hard training or exercise, muscles often experience small tears, known as microtrauma, which contribute to delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS).

The goal (pun intended) of sports massage is focused on recovery management, injury prevention, and psychological support - evidence has shown that sports massage reduces levels of the stress hormone cortisol, while increasing feel-good chemicals like dopamine and serotonin.

During your massage - we'll focus on different depth, techniques, joint mobilisation with passive and active movements, beginning with an assessment of your current range of motion and any discomfort levels and limitations.
After the massage we'll look at the movements for improvement, and I'll be offering rehabilitation exercises for you to continue to aid in your recovery.
